Passage (Prototype)
Many of my past works have explored distance and have responded to how far a participant is from a projection on a wall or the ground. The issue with this is that it's not always easy for someone to understand what the interaction is.
In this piece, I used the hallway at the Space Department as a way to orchestrate and encourage distance-based interaction. It's a sound-only piece that evokes the experience of entering the water at a beach. When you first enter the passageway, the sound is soft and eerie. Then, midway, it becomes a rumbling sound that is almost like the surf. Then, as you get to the end of the hallway, it's a softer, slow, wider sound as if you were bobbing up and down in the water, past the surf zone.
