Why Flexibility?

Flexibility is valued by our clients, providing options in where, what, how, when and with whom they learn. Flexibility can make it possible for business to commit to training and for us to be more responsive. As professional educators, flexible learning options increase our tools to offer a 'great learning experience'.

The idea of Flexible Learning Champions was conceived because TAFE recognises that many of the gains in flexibility thus far have been initiated and made possible by enthusiastic and committed individuals. To move to the next level where flexibility is a mainstream occurrence requires a more strategic direction.  The organisational goal of this program is to develop a cohort of flexible learning champions. For you individually, this program is designed to support you to further develop your skills in flexible learning.

Working with your peers

A wide range of skills and experience within the group already exists - you have demonstrated this through the application and selection process, the aim of this program is to develop knowledge in new areas and also looking at ways in which flexible learning can be seen as mainstream by the organisation. Through collaborative learning and projects that directly relate to your work role you are invited to consider a wide range of possibilities and develop implementation plans, supported by experts as you need.

How will training happen?

This course will use a blended approach, combining face-to-face seminars, online materials and discussion, one-on-one coaching and workplace projects. You'll need to allocate about 2 hours a week to the program, over 6 months to complete the full program, but your pre-existing skills may reduce the time needed. Of course, this timeframe is flexible and may be negotiated with your facilitator, X.

Your facilitator, X

{to be inserted for each facilitator/team of facilitators}

[content of introduction to include: name, photo, location and contact information, some professional background for credibility in the area of study, and some personal information to provide an insight into the person as well]

Introduction Activity

Purpose: to meet other participants in the course and discover a little about each other
Task: In the "Introduction" forum, post a brief message (no more than 100 words) that tells your fellow participants a little about yourself and your surroundings. Who are you? What can you see out of your window or door of where you are right now? Remeber, you do not need to reveal anything that you don't wish to.
Respond: Read through other participant's postings and respond to at least one person where you might have something in common, or have a question about what they have included in their introduction.

What happens after this program?

This program is designed to support you through the process of exploring flexible learning options relevant to your delivery area. At the conclusion of the program, you will join with fellow participants in a cohort of Flexible Learning Champions with a mission to provide leadership to your peers in flexible learning and support the implementation of flexible learning options as a mainstream choice for fellow teachers. We value your suggestions about how TAFE Tasmania can support you in achieving this goal, so your feedback is always welcome.
