"The Mobile Media Access Facility (MMAF)

Tasmania's state-wide film equipment hire, training and resource unit specifically for new and emerging filmmakers, is now available to offer its services to young practitioners.

An initiative of Salamanca Arts Centre and Screen Tasmania and with funding from the Australian Film Commission, MMAF aims to give young filmmakers affordable access to entry level film production equipment, training and professional development opportunities.

MMAF equipment available for hire currently includes:
- two digital camera kits.
- microphones and lighting kits.
- AVID Computer Editing Suite ( The AVID is the present industry standard for computer aided editing).

A second round of equipment purchases will enable MMAF to offer its services and facilities to film makers who are based outside southern Tasmania.

The Mobile Media Access Facility will be facilitating a thorough program of Professional Development Training courses commencing in June. Courses will cover essential topics such as Basic Camera Techniques and Continuity and Editing. Young and emerging film makers are encouraged to register their details by email with MMAF at mmaf@salarts.org.au so that they can be kept up to date with equipment hire and Profession Development Training opportunities.

The Mobile Media Access Facility is housed in the Salamanca Arts Centre in Hobart.
