Online Access Centre Stats
As at Oct 30 2002 there are:
1. Currently 345,000 Tasmanians living outside the Hobart / Glenorchy / Clarence metropolitan areas have easy access to an Online Access Centre located in their community. This represents about 75% of all Tasmanians.
2. Approximately 47,300 Tasmanians are registered users of the Centres.
3. Slightly more females (51%) than males (49%) use Online Access Centres
4. About (22%) of regular users are under 18 years of age.
5. Over 28,300 Tasmanians have attended training courses conducted at Online Access Centres.
6. Almost 22,200 Tasmanians have started using e-mail at Online Access Centres.
7. More than 4,300 free training courses have introduced over 14,600 people to basic computer and internet training.
8. In the past 12 months, more than 1,150 volunteers have contributed over 80,000 hours to help run the Online Access Centres
9. Over 11,000 web pages have been published on the Internet for small and home-based businesses and community organisations in Tasmania.
